Elvis Modikela Nkoana is a lecturer and researcher at the University of South Africa and a doctoral candidate in Environmental sciences at Antwerp University in Belgium. He obtained his bachelor and honours degrees at the University of Limpopo in South Africa.

He went further to complete a Master of Arts at Durham University in the United Kingdom. Mr. Nkoana publishes scholarly articles on a variety of subjects including in climate change adaptation, European immigration, renewable energy deployment, stakeholder engagement, and sustainability assessment. It is this work that secured him consultancy jobs with leading South African institutions.

Mr. Nkoana was heavily involved with student activism and was later elected as Secretary and President of the Student Representative Council of the University of Limpopo in 2006 and 2007 respectively-his notable achievement was the proper management of student funds and an increased financial allocation to assist ‘poor and deserving’ students.

He peacefully vacated these offices of responsibility at the end of each term and found employment in the public sector. He later resigned to pursue his postgraduate studies abroad before returning home to co-found the Renewable Energy Indaba.
